Puck pushed the stroller through the Lima Bean. He'd gotten off work at the music store, picked Beth up from daycare, and decided to get a caffeine fix before taking Beth home. His sister would be babysitting when he went to night class at LCC.
The toddler was pointing at everything in the glass pastry display case and using her favorite word-- "MINE." Puck ordered himself some coffee and got some juice and a cookie for Beth. She'd probably get the frosting all over her face, but she hadn't had a treat in a couple days. He paid the barista and waited for his order.
"Settle down, Beth," Puck said gently. "Mommy got you a cookie."

Blaine was exhausted after a long Glee rehearsal and an even harder Cheerios practice. He was sore and ready to pass out in his bed, but he still had homework to do when he got home, and to do that, he needed coffee.
So, he parked at the Lima Bean and made his way inside, rolling his shoulders to stretch the muscles. Once he was through the doors, he took a deep breath of the coffee and warmth. Then he saw a familiar face and grinned.
"Puck!" he said, stepping up. "And Miss Beth, how are you and Mommy today?" he asked, addressing the little girl.

"BANE!" Beth said, her face exploding in a grin.
"Hey dude," Puck said, taking the coffee and cookie from the barista. "I'm good. We're going to sit over here if you want to join us."
Puck pointed at an empty table in the corner where he could tuck Beth's stroller easily, and pushed her over there, waiting for Blaine to get his coffee and join them. It had been a while since Puck had hung out with the other omega.

Blaine ordered his usual medium drip and once it was ready, he went to join Puck and his daughter at the table in the corner. He had planned to take the coffee with him, but he was happy to take a little time to catch up with Puck.
"So you're back in town," he commented, sitting across from him. "Staying this time?"

"Yeah," Puck said. "LA was a bit much to handle with a two-year-old in tow, so I'm working part time at a music shop and taking night classes at the community college." Puck handed the frosted half moon cookie to his daughter and let her go to town. He took a sip of his coffee and smiled at Blaine.
"I heard that you and Kurt broke up. That's rough. How are you handling it?"

Blaine watched Beth scoop frosting from the cookie and stick her entire hand into her mouth before answering. "It's been hard, honestly, but I think... I think I'm doing okay now," he said with a small nod. Then he shrugged. "It was my fault anyway, made a mistake, bad decision. I'm lucky he's chosen to speak to me again. If nothing else, I think we'll be able to repair our friendship."

"What happened?" Puck asked. He took another sip from his coffee, then opened Beth's juice for her.
"I thought you guys were so solid. I mean, if there was any couple I thought would make it after high school I thought it would be you two."

"Yeah..." Blaine sighed, twisting his cup between his hands and staring into his coffee. He took a sip and smiled at Beth who was taking the juice eagerly. "I thought we would too. No one told you what happened? I would have thought that would have been the first thing anyone said." He looked up from his coffee, trying to read Puck's face, wondering how he would react. "Y'know, 'oh my gosh, Puck, you'll never believe it!'," he said, affecting an imitation of excitement and shock.

"I haven't really been talking to anybody much," Puck admitted. "I have, like, 100 facebook messages I haven't read. I've been so busy with Beth and trying to not be a fuck-up."
Puck watched his daughter finish her cookie then pulled some wet-naps out of the diaper bag and started cleaning her face off.
"I maybe heard something about it," Puck finally admitted, "But I didn't know what to say."

"That's important, and it's good to see you doing so well with her," Blaine said, smiling as he watched his friend clean his daughter. "I fucked it all up, is all. I slept with somebody else," he admitted, lifting his cup to take another drink and cover his face a little. He peeked at Puck over the rim to see how he reacted, unsure if he'd honestly not known or had asked to try and talk about it.

"I know what that's like," Puck said. "I mean, Finn and I started dating in junior high. He was my dream guy. And then I slept with Quinn, and everything fell apart."
Puck paused for a minute, thinking it over.
"Were you in heat?"

Blaine blinked at him and slowly lowered his cup, cheeks reddening. "I... Yeah, I was. I shouldn't have gone to his place, should have noticed the signs sooner. I went into it sitting on his couch while we were watching something on television." He bit his lip, embarrassed. It was so stupid, what he'd done. He'd only gone over to talk because he was alone. "I should have gone home then. But I stayed. I stayed for three days, until the heat wore off. I don't know how I didn't end up..." He swallowed rather than finish the sentence and looked down at his hands wrapped around his coffee.

"I know what that's like," Puck said. "I never would have slept with Quinn if I hadn't been in heat. I mean, I wouldn't give up Beth for the world, but getting pregnant at 16 was not something I planned. Stop beating yourself up over it. We all make mistakes when we're in heat."

"Thanks," Blaine sighed. "Doesn't change the fact that I cheated." He watched Beth play with her juice, shaking the bottle around. "Doesn't change that I hurt him so badly."

"But it does change it," Puck said. "Would you have slept with that guy if you hadn't been in heat?"
Puck balled up the wet nap and threw it out, making a basket in the trash can. He handed Beth her juice and helped her sip it.
"Don't be sad Bane," Beth said, with all the wisdom of a two-year-old.
