Kurt picked up the phone with a shaky breath, hitting the button to call Blaine, to get to the bottom of all of this. He was tired of Rachel's pithy comments and the insecurity eating at him.
It rang and then there was the click of someone picking up.
"Blaine?"

"Kurt! Hey!" Blaine said, smiling into the phone. They hadn't talked in almost a week, and it hurt, but Blaine was determined not to push or get clingy and make his ex back away again. "It's been awhile, how are you?" he asked as he waved goodbye to Marley and Unique. Glee had just ended for the day, and he didn't have Cheerio practice that afternoon, so he was on his way to his car to head to the Lima Bean for some coffee and to do his homework.

"Hey," Kurt said, smiling softly, "Sorry we haven't talked, it's been busy." Kurt settled onto his bed, cross-legged, before continuing, "I'm doing okay, how are you?"

"Good, I guess. Glee's back on, the Warblers got disqualified, so we're going to Regionals. And Cheerios is actually a lot of fun," he chuckled, pulling his car door open. "The bullying isn't even that bad this year, either. What about your classes? I know you've only been attending for a few weeks. Are they fun? Making new friends?" He almost asked if there were any cute New York boys his eyes had fallen on, but he wasn't ready to hear the answer to that just yet. He threw his bag in the passenger seat and sat down, closing the door and putting the key in the ignition.

"Congrats on Regionals," Kurt said, "I know you guys deserved to go." Kurt shifted, unsure as to how to reply to the other questions, "My classes are okay," he started, "It's a lot of work, but fun, sometimes. Um, I've met a few people. I joined the glee club here and the leader, Adam, is really nice."

"Oh, that's good," Blaine said, tipping his head to hold the phone between his right ear and shoulder so he could steer his way out of the parking lot. "Adam, huh? Is he, uh, c-cute?" Blaine could hardly believe he was asking, but they were trying to be friends, boyfriends would probably never happen again, so he wanted to show he could be supportive of Kurt and his choices and moving on. Now that he was on the road, he took the phone with his left hand and sat up a little straighter, only needing one hand to keep in the correct lane.

Kurt bit his lip, "He's... pretty cute," he paused, "That's... I'm calling for a reason, Blaine," he said, softly, trying to get to the point, not wanting to talk about Adam right now.

"Oh. Okay. What is it?" Blaine asked as he came up to a stop sign. He glanced each way and then tapped the gas. His stomach was twisting a bit, wondering what Kurt could be calling about. He couldn't seriously be going to ask if Blaine was okay with him asking another guy out, was he? Because as much as Blaine knew he had to answer that with a yes, he wasn't sure he could.

"I...I need to know something about," he paused nervously, "About the guy you slept with."

Blaine felt his mouth go dry. "Oh." It was barely a murmur, and he wasn't sure if Kurt had heard it. The fingers holding his phone went numb and he took a deep breath. Blaine didn't know why Kurt was asking now, four months later. Why he cared today when in November the details, the fact that Blaine hadn't wanted to hurt him, didn't matter at all. "Um, w-what about him?"

"Was...was he an alpha?" Kurt asked, voice shaky and nervous, not sure if he really wanted to know the answer.

Blaine furrowed his brow, confused. That was what Kurt wanted to know? Eli's designation? "I... Why does it matter, Kurt? It was months ago and a mistake and I'm sorry. Why... why are you bringing this up? I just want to move on from it, Kurt." He sighed, deciding to pass on the coffee and just head home. He didn't want to end up crying or something in public.

"I just... Rachel said something and I... I need to know," Kurt said, quietly, self conscious. He hated bringing it up, didn't want to talk about it but knew that he had to know.

"Kurt..." Blaine sighed, wishing he were home, in his room, and not still driving. This wasn't a conversation to have when his attention should be on the road. "I don't want to talk about it, please. I... I'm asking you as a friend, don't make us hurt each other any more than we have," he begged, shaking his head, even though Kurt couldn't see him. His leg was twitching, knee bouncing against the window crank, and his fingers were tapping on the steering wheel. "Please just let it go..."

"That's the problem," Kurt said, "I can't let it go. I've been trying for days and I just can't. Was he an alpha? Please, Blaine."
