Rachel sighed as she walked through the large door of their loft, letting Kurt push it shut again. Classes were done for the day and she was famished. With a dance class, an acting class, and two lecture courses, her schedule was full and exhausting. "Kurt, are you hungry?" she asked, dropping her bag and hanging her coat. "I could really go for some Chinese from down the street, what about you?"

Kurt nodded at her, "Yeah, that's fine." He hung up his own coat and set his bag neatly beneath it, slipping into the kitchen to root through the drawers for the delivery menu. He grabbed his phone, calling the number and ordering their regulars, before dropping onto the couch beside Rachel.
"It'll be about 20 minutes," he said, tucking his legs underneath of him.

"Okay, great!" Rachel chirped happily. That gave her just enough time to talk to him about this Adam boy and make sure he knew what a social drag he would be. "So, I wanted to ask you about the boy you were talking to today," she said, turning to face him on the couch, tucking one knee up against the back. "I think his name was Adam?"

Kurt blinked at her, "Yeah, Adam Crawford," he said, "He's part of the show choir. What about him?"
Kurt was pretty sure that Rachel knew perfectly well who Adam was, but took her bait, wanting to see where this conversation was going.

"Well, I was just wondering, you know, what you were talking to him about. Because, I'll admit, he's a perfectly attractive looking person," she said, trying to ease into it, because after three years of friendship, she knew that getting straight to the point would only make Kurt resist her advice and fight her attempts to help.

"Yes," Kurt said, only slightly confused, "He's cute. We were talking about my audition for the club."
And it was true. Adam was cute. He was also kind, talented, and complimentary. And, yes, it was also true that Kurt had been feeling lonely since he and Blaine broke up, so maybe he had considered asking Adam out for coffee as well.

Rachel nodded. This was worse than she had feared, she'd thought he was just chatting him up, but Kurt was going to join the club? She'd just have to inform him of what a bad idea that was, then.
"Oh, well. Listen, Kurt, and please try not to take it the wrong way, but Adam isn't exactly someone you want to be seen with, or his club," she told him, shaking her head, feeling sorry that he had been blinded by a sort-of pretty face. "If you want to get noticed and do well and get out there, you'd do best to stick with Brody and his friends."

Kurt raised an eyebrow at her, "And why should I let you decide who I can and can't be friends with?" Kurt asked, annoyed, "Adam and his club are talented and friendly, unlike Brody's friends."

Rachel made a sound of disbelief, aghast that he would say something like that. "That isn't true!" she argued. "Brody and his friends are perfectly nice and talented. Some of them have already gotten parts on Broadway." Background extras, of course, but that was more than any of Adam's Apples had had. "Brody said that Adam's club is cheesy and unrefined, Kurt. They aren't the people that will get you where you want to be."

Kurt rolled his eyes, "Brody's friends are plenty talented, it's the friendly part they're missing," he said, frustrated. The few times he'd spoken to Brody's friends they'd come off as snobby and rude, acting like they were too good to be speaking to him.
"Just because they aren't all perfect divas doesn't mean their club is unrefined," Kurt said, "That's what makes them interesting."

"Kurt, I'm trying to do you a favor, here," Rachel sighed. "Brody has brought me under his wing, and I want you to be there with me. But if you join this club just to impress this guy that you hardly know, you're going to end up a nobody at this school and you'll never get on stage."

"First of all," Kurt started, annoyed now, "I wouldn't join the club to impress Adam. Did you forget that I genuinely enjoyed glee?" he inhaled, "Second, I just started here. I'm trying to make friends and get involved, so that I have things to put on an eventual resumé, not just sucking up to the "stars."

Rachel pressed her lips together and huffed through her nose. "Fine, Kurt," she sighed, letting it go for now. "Do what you want, I can't force you to agree with me." She would convince him, eventually. But she didn't want a Chinese night to get ruined by a fight over a silly club like that.

Kurt sighed, but dropped the subject, really not wanting to argue if she was going to let the discussion drop (though, knowing her, it was probably a temporary truce). He shifted, directing his eyes to the TV and flicking it on, waiting for the Chinese to arrive.
