Richard Castle smiled out at the long line of people waiting for his autograph. He was sure he'd get more than a few people who wanted to hand him their manuscripts (he always did.)
He liked doing these book signings. They stroked his ego, and he always met some interesting people. There were a couple college students in line dressed as Derek Storm and Nikki Heat, based on the cover art, and cosplayers ALWAYS made Castle's day. He would totally pose for a picture with them when they reached the front of the line.
There was no new murder case for him to help Kate out with at the moment, and Alexis was off at college, so Castle was glad for the distraction from his unfinished novel. He smiled at each person in line, asked their name, and had a brief exchange when he signed their books. All in all it looked to be an enjoyable afternoon.

Dean was late. He hated being late when he actually knew a time that he needed to be somewhere. He sighed and held the hardcover book a little tighter. Dean couldn't believe that he was actually going to meet the Richard Castle.
Sam didn't even know that Dean had read every book Castle had ever published, but Dean had. He loved the man's writing style, and the latest book was no exception. The omega main character was someone Dean could even kind of relate to, being a private detective and all. He hadn't dressed up even though he'd entertained that idea for a day or two when he first heard about the signing.
He joined the line behind a girl dressed as Nikki Heat and waited for his turn in line, a little flushed with excitement as he shifted restlessly. Dean would never admit it, but he was a little nervous; he hoped that Castle was as pleasant as he seemed.

Castle took a few minutes to stand up and pose with the cosplayers for pictures, and then turned his attention to the guy after them in line. He seemed nervous despite looking like he could kick ass in thirty seconds or less. He wore a distressed leather jacket, and looked like he could be on a CW show.
"Hey," Castle said, reaching for the book. "Who should I make it out to?"

Dean grinned wide even as he stumbled over the words that wanted to spill out all at once. "Uh... De-Dean Winchester." He practically thrust the book at the man, all finesse completely gone. He hadn't acted this way in a long time, not since he first started trying to get into people's pants. He blushed and cursed in his head and again out loud.
"Sorry, sorry. I uh... I've actually been lookin' forward to this for a while." Dean reached up and rubbed the back of his neck. He couldn't think of anything else and blurted, "Shannon is awesome."

"Thanks!" Castle said, autographing the book. "Shannon's exactly the sort of role model I wished I'd had when I was a kid. Everyone thinks they know what an omega should be. But now I know omegas who are cops and writers and politicians and filmmakers. But we're more than just baby factories. We can be whatever we want. Right?"

Dean grinned. "Exactly! Shannon's the kind of omega I wish I could have known existed when I was a kid." He wanted to say more but his filters kicked in, keeping him from talking about his childhood in too many details. Castle had more important things to know than the fact that Dean hadn't even really known he was an omega until he hit puberty because of the constant moving and his father consistently forcing him to act like an alpha whether he wanted to or not.

"I hear you," Castle nodded, and smiled. He gave the young man an enthusiastic handshake. "It was nice meeting you, Dean. I'm glad Shannon resonates with you."

Dean couldn't help but beam at the warm handshake. "Thanks for writing like you do. I'm looking forward to your next book." He picked up his signed book and held it carefully. "And thanks for takin' the time to do a signing like this - not all writers are willing to do it."
